STUDENT BIRTHDAYS
Due to the fact that our school is promoting healthy choices, sugary
treats such as cupcakes and brownies are no longer allowed to be brought to
school for the students’ birthdays.
Birthday acknowledgements should take a minimal amount of time and
should not be disruptive to classroom instruction. In class we sing Happy Birthday to the birthday child. I also give the student a
special eraser, a pencil, and a sticker.
If you would like to bring something to school for the entire class on
your child’s birthday please contact me ahead of time. Some appropriate alternatives to unhealthy treats are:
* Treat the class to party favors such as pencils, erasers, or other small gifts (don't overdo, it's not a contest).
* Donate a book to the school or classroom library in honor of your child with a dedication to your child on the inside cover.
* Bring healthy individually wrapped treats such as popcorn, raisins, granola bars, etc..
